Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

It’s that time of year again.  Time for peace, love, joy… and well, let’s face it: disappointment.  Every holiday season we set ourselves up with expectations of bliss because that’s the way it’s “supposed to be,” right?  Not so much…

I don’t want to be a scrooge here.  I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  But with all the “shifting” happening in most of our lives these days, the holidays can add even more stress.  Who needs the extra craziness when we are already finding it difficult to keep our footing?  But the holidays can also be the perfect platform for us to deal with our issues, to heal from the past and to treat everyone with compassion and love.

Now, as I write this blog, I’m begging my wise, authentic self to give me the answers to how I personally can pick myself up off the floor and move on with the holiday season with love.  So forgive me if I’m all over the place.  I’m just trying to find my way…

Here’s how I see it.  We can all just hide under the covers this season, praying that the “rockin’ and rolling” will eventually stop and leave us with some semblance of dignity OR we can accept what is, get up and sing and dance our fears and disappointment of what we “expected our lives to be” away.  Now while my bruised EGO would love to just drink a bottle of wine, eat a box of chocolates and call it quits for the next two weeks, my authentic self, which is made only of LOVE — insists that I take the higher road.

Sometimes life can seem to be too much and the holidays highlight our feelings of loneliness, disappointment, and loss.  But they can also be a time to be grateful for what we do have.  Our friends, our family, our LIFE.  What matters is that we are HERE.  And we’re here not only to learn our lessons and grow, we’re also here to spread the love that is in our hearts.

So if you’re one of the many who are going through a tough time these days, I send you love and light.  I ask you to keep going, keep dreaming, and keep expecting miracles.  Fill your hearts with hope and never give up.  Treat everyone with compassion, forgive those who have hurt you, cry it out if you have to, then turn on some music and “Rock Around the Christmas Tree.”   What do you have to lose?

Happy Holidays to all of you!!  I send you blessings of light and love.  Now get up and dance!

With Love, For the highest good…

xo, Christy Jacobs
